This week we're wrapping up our trek through Port Richmond. If you thought the Kmart was interesting, wait til you see what else the neighborhood has to offer!  Also, if you were wondering, this post's title is just "retail" in Polish. Because of the neighborhood. Yes, I had to look it up. ACME/Pathmark/Shoppers World, Port Richmond ACME opened this store around 1980 and gave it a complete remodel in the mid-90's. Despite the interior being practically rebuilt, it only got the mini version of their peaked entryway on the outside. It closed during the early-2000's post-Albertsons acquisition massacre, where the majority of their small old stores were shut down. It became a Pathmark afterwards (after seeing so many stores go from Pathmark to ACME, it's interesting seeing one that went the other way). Hey My Backlog's Exactly 3 Years Now!

Oddly satisfying coincidence here- my schedule lines up so that this post, which will be my last for 2020, also happens to be the last of my 2017 photos. For it, we're going 100% Delaware- first, we're finishing off that adventure we started to the state last post, then we're going to be getting into some stuff from Delaware County PA. Not that it was intentional or anything. I just happen to frequent both places. ACME, Claymont, DE This location opened in 1967 and closed after their other location in town expanded in the 90's. It was split up between 6 smaller stores, most of which were closed by 2013 when Aaron's moved into the right side and redid the façade. They closed earlier this year, pre-pandemic. The gap between Aaron's and the smaller tenants on the left was gutted out, exposing the original ceiling. CVS and the Day I Failed My Driver's Test

Since we just finished off the contents of the memory card I've been posting from, for the next few weeks we'll be going through some of my phone pictures.  Old Giant Products  I really hope this stuff wasn't 6 years old when I found it. The Giant store brand was discontinued in 2011 if I remember correctly, and replaced with the Ahold "Fruit Bowl" logo, as seen on the left. Regardless, I took the risk and bought it for old time's sake. I didn't die after eating it.  Eastern Mountain Sports Closing EMS had 100 stores when they filed for bankruptcy in 2017. It was a quick bankruptcy, but they took some heavy losses. Half the stores were closed by the time they got out, one of which happened to be their Exton location. As bad as the closures were, the numbers are so satisfying. It began closing in April and shut its doors by July. This has since become a Sephora. They started with 100, and came out with 50.
